MY ’21-TO-21 CHALLENGE’

22 March, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Meet mijn ‘21 to 21-challenge’.

Game on!

Voeding

  • Minder koolhydraten (dag, boterhammen)

Klinkt best challenging, toch?

Liefs, Rachel

OUTFIT INSPO: FLIRTY VALENTINE

13 February, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Tomorrow it’s February 14th and we all know what that means: Valentine’s Day. Now, I have been lucky to be able to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the same guy for 8 years. But I can understand that it isn’t that much fun for those that haven’t found their true love yet. That’s why I am not wearing red or pink during this sweet day and I am showing you a different kind of look. Alright, it’s a sweet one 😉

We actually never really buy each other presents on Valentine’s Day, because we think it is more fun to have dinner together in a cute place. Therefore, the outfit I picked is perfect for a romantic dinner. Because, let’s be honest: what isn’t romantic about this dress?

Because, let’s be honest: what isn’t romantic about this dress?

If there is a print that I have been captivated by the last couple of months, it is the polkadot print. I used to wear this print a lot when I was about 10 years old, but I thought it was too childish when I became older. Thanks to the super pretty items that are made with this print nowadays, I am completely in love with it again. And, of course, I couldn’t resist going for this mint green dress with white polkadots.

This dress is perfect for both a date or a lovely summer day. Thanks to the low cleavage and the slits on the bottom, the dress is both feminine and sassy, while the print and the fabric make it more girly and chique. The fit is great, since it singes in at the waist, but is nice and flowy on the bottom. You can combine it with a pair of nice heels or complete the look with cute sneakers, like Superga’s or All Stars.

Happy Valentine!

Love, Rachel

OUTFIT INSPO: ROCKING RODEO

8 February, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Playing ‘Cowboy and Indian’ wasn’t exactly one of my favourite activities as a child. However, I have had quite some items in my wardrobe that you can call ‘cowgirl-worthy’. Like my cowboy boots by Sancho’s and Sendra Boots or waistcoats and tops with fringes. Now, you won’t find a checkered shirt in my closet soon, but those fringes, those really have an appeal…

For quite some time, I was looking for a cute jacket for during spring that wasn’t denim and black. As you probably know by know, I absolutely adore pastel colours and, therefore, it took only one second for me to fall in love with this jacket when I spotted it. It’s a light blue suede jacket with fringes and I absolutely love it.

Thanks to its light blue colour, it matches with a lot of items!

The options for combining this beauty are – in my opinion – endless. Thanks to its light blue colour, it matches with a lot of items! I chose to stay with the cowboy theme and wear the jacket with my grey snake print pants. To prevent an overload of prints, I am wearing a simple white tee with it. You can make the outfit a little bit more chique by wearing heeled boots with it, or wear a couple of sneakers or Dr. Martens if you opt for comfortable.

Did you find you inner ‘cowgirl’ yet?

INSIDE THE OFFICE: MY WORKING SPACE

5 February, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Ever since I started my own company, I dreamt about having my own office. I lived with my parents at the time and used to work at the dining table or in my dad’s tiny, crammed office. I knew right then: if I get my own office, I will create a quiet space in it. Et voila!

When you go through my Pinterest account, you’ll find all sorts of images of pretty offices and working spots that I used as my inspiration. I knew for sure that my office had to be mostly white (because white creates peace of mind) and that I wanted to work with nice accessories in rosegold and gold. That worked out pretty well if you ask me!

Ever since I started my own company, I dreamt about having my own office

We decided to leave the walls white, since the room is not that big. I had a custommade desk designed in whitewashed wood (love it!) and searched all over the internet for the right desk accessories. I bought lots of rosegold metalen book stands, document holders and pen holders. Add the pastelcoloured mousemat and the desk was complete!

Of course, simply having a white wall is kind of dull. That why I am super happy with this world map that matches our minimalistic interior perfectly! The world map is made completely of golden, metallic lines and coloured in with a light grey. This makes it stand out perfectly from the white canvas and, therefore, our white wall as well! The world map is a photo on canvas. Thanks to its size (120x80cm), it fits our office perfectly, since the desk is also 120 cm in width! Like it was meant to be, right?

Do you also have your own space that you love to work from? Or do you prefer to work from the couch or in bed? 😉

Love, Rachel

HAIR TRANSFORMATION: FROM BRUNETTE TO REDHEAD

31 January, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Are you familiar with that moment at which you think: ‘I am ready for a change?’ I had one of those moments a few weeks ago when it comes to my hair. That eventually resulted in this new look. Are you ready?

Everyone that has known me since I was a child, knows that I always wanted to have red hair. I have got green eyes and so I thought it would look amazing if I had red hair. I loved the character from every girl group that was popular during those days (like K3, Spice Girls, Powerpuff Girls and Totally Spies) that had red hair the best. Unfortunately, I never had the guts before to actually dye my hair red. If I wanted to do that, I would have to dye all of my hair and – except from going back to brown – I never had to do that before.

The last couple of years, I dyed my hair regularly. Not entirely, but in balayage (a natural fade from dark to lighter, in my case). I had blonde ends and silver ends that started quite high up my head. Therefore, the transition into actually dyeing all of my hair was less big. A few afternoons scrolling around on Pinterest and I was sold: I was going to dye my hair red.

I am absolutely jealous of all women that have bright copper red hair and look amazing with it. But, I am honest: I am not one of them

I am absolutely jealous of all women that have bright copper red hair and look amazing with it. But, I am honest: I am not one of them. I never had that illusion, and so I knew that I didn’t want bright red hair. With the help of my hair dresser – whom I trust completely when it comes to my hair – I decided on this copper/brown colour. I absolutely love it and have no regrets so far! I will give you girls an update on maintaining my colour and all other ins & outs concerning my hairdo soon 😉

OUTFIT INSPO: BRONZE BEAUTY

18 January, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Everyone that knows me even a little bit knows that I adore everything that’s either rose gold or copper-coloured. It might not be a very big surprise that there is one colour that can be spot in fashion world that I am quite a fan of: bronze. Therefore, I had no other choice but to dedicate a blogpost to my first bronze-coloured item. Are you ready?

A nice turtleneck top is always useful, am I right? You can combine it with all kinds of items: high-waisted jeans, flared pants, dungarees, skirts, jumpsuits and dresses. When I came across this bronze item in a ribbed velvet fabric, it immediately ended up in my online shopping cart. I instantly envisioned how I wanted to wear it: underneath my slipdress with lace and leopard print, combined with a buckle belt. Et voila!

I think this combination is super fun to wear, because it is not only comfortable, but also has a touch of chique. You can finish this look in a somewhat fancier way by wearing this combi with a pair of geels, but you can also wear some cool boots like Dr. Martens with them for a more badass look.

Which of the two do you prefer?

OUTFIT INSPO: COZY GREEN

16 January, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Did you always have a colour of which everyone used to say: ‘you should wear that more often?’ For me, it’s the colour green. Now, there are some touches of green I tend to avoid (read: neon green), but I can always be enticed for items in mint-, moss-, olive- or bottle green. When I came across this super soft, comfortable long sweater, I had to have it. And I still don’t regret that!

You know the deal: there are days that you don’t want to wear something uncomfortable, but you want to look like you didn’t just roll out of bed. Whenever I’m having such a day, this is my absolute go-to outfit. Because I want to pimp the sweater a bit (because, let’s fact it, it is an oversized sweater), I love to wear it with a stocking with a cool print. Of course, that is not particularly warm, so I like to wear them with some knee high socks. In this way, you still see the print, my legs are kept warm and – in my opinion – it gives the outfit a nice little touch.

To complete the outfit, I love to wear these items with my Chelsea-like ankle boots with studs. Also, I think it looks really cool to finish the look with my plaid trenchcoat. Not only does it give the look a touch of chique, it also creates more of a waist to my somewhat oversized sweater and brings out the colour of the sweater thanks to the brown, green and red in it. You could even finish this look with a quirky cap or baret – how fun is that?!

OUTFIT INSPO: GET ON THE GLITTER

14 January, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

This is a post especially for those that believe that you can only wear glitters during the holidays or on your birthday. Hereby: you’re wrong 😉 With the right combination you can wear glitters all through the year, even on a regular weekday!

For quite some time, I was looking for a glitter pants in a different colour than black. I already own a black pair of pants with ruffles on the legs that is perfect for both parties and days on which I want to feel a little bit extra. Even so, I wanted a pair of pants with glitters in a colour that is softer than black and I knew I had to have these pants as soon as I saw them.

Thanks to the light colour, the pants are really subtle despite the glitters and that’s exactly why I like it so much

These cream coloured pants with silver glitters are perfect for a casual look, don’t you think? You can easily combine it with a knit sweater, like this white one, but also with a t-shirt and an oversized cardi, it is very cute. Thanks to the light colour, the pants are really subtle despite the glitters and that’s exactly why I like it so much.

Of course, you can also wear them to a party. It is a glittery pants after all! Wear them with a pretty silk or chiffon top for an extra chique look. Also, you can make the outfit a little bit more tough by wearing it with a leather jacket. All you have to do for a complete look? Finish it with a nice pair of heels and a clutch!

Which of the two options would you go for: chique or comfy (or both)?

OUTFIT INSPO: GALAXY GLAM

10 January, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

Everyone that knows me well, knows that I am crazy about everything that has to do with stars. Therefore, I own quite some items with a star print or star dangle. This new score has a little more than just stars, but that might even make me like it a little more…

The last couple of years have been a period of breaking taboos for me. I had never expected to see myself in flared trousers, midi skirts (and dresses) and leopard print. Meanwhile, I can definitely cross those of my list, but there has always been one item that I never expected to wear: the maxi dress. I am just a short girl and, therefore, I have always thought that maxi dresses were just not for me. Quite a shame, of course, since I thought they looked really cool on others. Nevertheless, I decided to take a chance when I came across this galaxy printed dress during a shopping afternoon.

This dress has everything that my heart desires: a super cute, different, galaxy-themed print, a chiffon layer and some ruffles here and there

This dress has everything that my heart desires: a super cute, different, galaxy-themed print, a chiffon layer and some ruffles here and there. Because it is such a long dress, I do think it is important to create a waist. Otherwise, I think I disappear into the dress due to its fit. That’s why I wear the dress with a buckle belt around the slimmest part of my waist. Not only does that create a slimmer waist, it also creates a tough contrast with the lovely dress.

To create an even tougher effect, you could of course combine the dress with some cool boots, such as Dr. Martens. Because I like to create more length when wearing a long dress such as this one, I choose to wear it with some heeled boots. It makes me feel a little less small…

How would you style this dress?

OUTFIT INSPO: PINK & PLAID

7 January, 2019 by rachelkabelaar Leave a Comment

While saying that I’ve never really been a fan of plaid, I wrote another post on my plaid leggings… I have had this in my wardrobe for quite some time, but that’s why I think it is even more fun to create new combinations with this black-and-white beauty. And yes, this is one of my absolute favourites.

About 4 years ago, I bought this high-waisted legging by Miss Selfridge. It fits really nicely and has small black-and-white plaids, which makes it perfect for creating all sorts of combinations. Super cute detail: the bottom is turned over, which looks super cute with some ankle boots. I love to wear those with these leggings!

One of my absolute favourite scores this year, which I – surprisingly enough – can combine with almost anything

These leggings are, of course, ideal for combining with an oversized sweater, but I recently found a combo that I absolutely love. True, it is still oversized, but with a little twist. I bought this ‘Bad Girls Go Backstage’ t-shirt with boyfriend fit last year on The Wild Babes. Thanks to the subtle colours in the shirt, it is perfect for combining with both black-and-white items and coloured items and so it is perfect for this combo. To bring out some of the colours in the shirt, I am wearing this bubbly woolen cardigan by My Jewellery with it. One of my absolute favourite scores this year, which I – surprisingly enough – can combine with almost anything. I liked it so much that I bought it in cobalt blue as well… 😉

With a quirky combination such as this one, you can let out the quirky accessory. Even though my boyfriend isn’t exactly happy with me wearing this fisherman’s cap, I always feel totally empowered when I am wearing this bad boy. To complete the outfit, I like to wear my black buckle bag with golden details with it – chique, but also a tiny bit rebellish.

Love, Rachel
